MWC26 Barcelona took place March 2–5 at Fira Gran Via. Organized by the GSMA, it is the world's largest gathering for the mobile and connectivity industry, and this year's show floor included new experiences alongside the return of the 4YFN startup platform.

While MWC is primarily a telecom event, its themes matter to anyone who produces or distributes video. Connectivity determines where cameras can go, how quickly content can be delivered and how audiences watch.

Faster, more flexible networks. Continued investment in advanced mobile networks opens options for wireless cameras, remote production and mobile-first viewing. Coverage and performance still vary, so plans should include fallbacks.

Connectivity from space. Satellite services featured prominently in this year's program. For remote events and field production, they may complement terrestrial connections where options have traditionally been limited.

Devices as production tools. Smartphones and connected devices continue to blur the line between consumer and professional capture. Clear quality standards help teams use them effectively.

For media organizations, the lesson from Barcelona is to treat connectivity as a creative and strategic decision, not only an IT line item.
